KABUL (Pajhwok): The government of Turkey has vehemently denounced Tuesday’s deadly suicide attack on protestors in eastern Nangarhar province.
At least 68 people were killed and scores wounded in the attack that took place on the main Jalalabad-Torkham highway in Momand Dara district.
Residents had gathered in the Daka area of the district for a demonstration against a pro-government militia commander when the attacker detonated his explosives.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said: “We learned with sorrow that the terrorist attack targeting a demonstration in Nangarhar province resulted in the loss of lives and many injuries.”
In a statement, the ministry said: “We wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives, speedy recovery to the wounded and convey our condolences to the friendly government and brotherly people of Afghanistan.”
