3 killed, 8 injured in Herat traffic accident

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): At least three individuals have been killed and eight others wounded as a result of a traffic accident in western Herat province, an official said on Saturday.

Dr. Arif Jalali, director of the Zonal Hospital, told Pajhwok Afghan News the accident took place on the Heart City-Islam Qala highway late on Friday night.

He said three people were killed and eight other wounded. The injured hailed from Sar-i-Pul, Takhar and Badghis provinces, he added. One of them is in critical condition.

Syed Ahmad Mohammadi, spokesman for Herat police, told Pajhwok the accident occurred when a Corolla car collided with an auto rickshaw at 9pm.

He said only seven people were injured in the overnight incident. The victims were reportedly heading to Iran in quest of work.
