MPs ask Kabul to sever diplomatic ties with Islamabad

KABUL of being behind an attack that killed two top security officials in southern Kandahar province earlier this month, asking Kabul to cut off diplomatic ties with Islamabad.

Kandahar Police Chief Gen. Abdul Raziq and National Directorate of Security head Gen. Abdul Momin and a cameraman of the national television, were killed in the insider’s attack on in Kandahar City on October 18.

Governor Zalmai Weesa, his spokesman Aziz Ahmad Azizi, Maiwand Corps Commander Gen. Naibullah Elham, Atal Corps Commander Gen. Imam Nazar Bahbud and a US general were wounded in the attack carried out by a security guard of the governor.

Three days before the attack, Wolesi Jirga member and candidate Abdul Jabbar Qahraman was killed in a bombing. The Taliban had claimed responsibility for all the attacks.

Some lawmakers accused Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) for its involvement in these attacks and asked the government to complain to the UN National Security Council against Pakistan.

Lawmaker Iqbal Safi, who heads the lower house commission for internal security, said Gen. Raziq was killed like other Afghan influential figures in the 17-years-old conflict.

He accused Pakistan’s notorious intelligence agency of its involvement in recent attacks and said the government was silent over the attacks.

“The government should suspend its relations with Pakistan and should officially complain to the UN Security Council against Pakistan,” he said.

Saleh Mohammad Saljoqi, a lawmaker from Herat province, said Pakistan’s military and intelligence agency were involved in the killing of most of the country’s prominent personalities.

He said the government should take a strong and decisive position against Pakistan after recent attacks.

He asked the US to impose effective sanctions on Pakistan to pressurize the country Pakistan into stopping the bloodshed in Afghanistan.

Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi said top security officials would be summoned to the house on Monday to brief the house on the latest attacks.
