69 Taliban killed in round-the-clock operations, says MoD

KABUL militants have been killed in operations during the past 24 hours in various provinces, the Ministry of Defense said on Friday.

Another 15 rebels were wounded in the round-the-clock raids conducted in Laghman, Nangarhar, Paktika, Ghazni, Paktia, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Farah, Ghor, Takhar, Faryab, Helmand and Nimroz provinces, the MoD said in a statement.

The statement said 19 militants were killed in Paktia’s Zurmat district, 16 in Chaharsadda district of Ghor, six in Nawzad district of Helmand, six in Chaparhar district of Nangarhar province,.

It said another four Taliban were killed in Maidan Wardak’s capital Maidan Shahr, three in Uruzgan’s capital Tirinkot, as many in Paktika’s Khoshamand district, two in Faryab’s Pashtunkot district and two in Ghazni province.

The 15 Taliban were injured in Farah, Uruzgan, Paktika, Ghazni and Faryab provinces, the statement said, claiming the forces captured a large quantity of weapons and ammunition during the operations.

The Taliban have so far said nothing in this regard.
