MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): Over 40 militants have been killed in the Najrab district of central Kapesa province and several areas cleared, an official said on Saturday.
Security forces launched clearing operations in the area from the past three weeks which was underway and progressing.
Police Spokesman Saroush Kohistani told Pajhwok Afghan News 43 militants were killed, seven injured and eight arrested during the operation.
Army, police, intelligence personnel, local police and local uprising members had been taking part in the offensive.
Kohistani said the areas cleared of the insurgents were being protected with the deployment of police and local security personnel in the news check-posts.
Khoshal, the resident of locality, said insurgents from Tagab and Alasai also arrived in Najrab for militants’ activities who had miserably failed.
He said most of the areas had been cleared and under security forces control.
