TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): A Taliban insurgent has beheaded his 92-year-old father over supporting the government in central Uruzgan province, an official and residents said on Saturday.
The incident took place in Sadmordah locality of Tirinkot, the provincial capital, on Friday night, a police officer Malak Zainullah told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the nonagenarian Sufi Salaam was killed when he was offering prayers in the area mosque.
He said the son killed his father because he was against the ongoing war in the country.
Meanwhile, Baryalai, a resident of the area, identified the killer to Pajhwok as Lala, Salman’s second son, who joined the Taliban three years ago.
However, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said the killer was not their fighter and had no connection with the movement.
