Afghanistan, UAE ink 6 agreements of cooperation

KABUL and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed six agreements on boosting bilateral cooperation, a media report said on Monday.

The agreements envision enhanced mutual cooperation in areas of education, The National reported.

The accords were inked after President Ashraf Ghani’s arrival at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, where he was given a warm welcome by the crown prince.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Ghani witnessed the signing of the memoranda of understanding.

Meanwhile, UAE Crown Prince Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed tweeted they reviewed efforts for combating terrorism and extremism, and means to achieve regional security and peace.

Support for Afghanistan’s reconstruction, development and peace initiatives was also discussed.

Afghanistan’s acting Minister of Finance Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Gargash signed the agreements.
