IRNA reported FM Mohammad Javad Zarif named on Monday Mohammad Ebrahim as Tehran’s special assistant for Afghanistan.
The diplomat has previously served as Iran’s ambassador to Afghanistan, Bosnia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Croatia and Turkey, according to the news agency.
Afghanistan and Iran enjoy robust political and economic links. The war-torn country has been a big buyer of Iranian commodities.
