Balkh police rescue trader’s son from kidnappers

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Police have rescued a trader’s son from his abductors in Nehar-i-Shahi district of northern Balkh province, an official said on Saturday.

Police spokesman Adil Shah Adil told Pajhwok Afghan News that the kidnapped person, Azizullah, hailed from Faryab province.

He said the 17 years old Azizullah who worked in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital of Balkh province, was abducted two days back by six individuals.

He said the abductors had demanded two million afghanis in ransom from Azizullah’s family. Adil said the kidnappers had been keeping the teenager in Nehar-i-Shahi district until one of his abductors was arrested and he was rescued.

The police spokesman said efforts were underway to arrest the rest of kidnappers.

Meanwhile, father of the abducted boy, Abdul Rahman, told Pajhwok that he had no enmity with anyone and he did not know who were his son’s abductors.

Thanking security forces for releasing his son from the clutches of his kidnappers, the father urged the security forces to arrest the rest of kidnappers and prevent such incidents from happening.
