6 ANA soldiers killed, 4 wounded in Farah roadside blast

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Local officials on Thursday said six Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and four others wounded in a roadside bombing in Bala Bulook district of western Farah province.

Local officials warn dozens of Afghan forces besieged by the Taliban in the district would probably be killed by the insurgents if reinforcements not arrive there.

Mahmod Naimi, deputy Farah provincial council head, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the roadside blast took place in Aab Khurma area of the district late on Wednesday.

He said that besides Afghan forces casualties, two HUMVEE vehicles of the soldiers were also destroyed in the explosion.

Taliban have blocked most routes leading to Farah province by planting bombs on them since two days, he said.

Naimi said, “Security forces in Bala Bulook district repeatedly said that they are besieged by the Taliban and they were currently faced with shortage of equipment, fuel and food,”

He warned that the security forces would be killed by the insurgents if the government did not respond on time.

Passengers now obligated to travel on unpaved routes to Heart or Kandahar provinces, Afghan forces cannot travel on those routes due to bombs planted on them, he said.

On the other hand, Mohibullah Mohib, Farah police spokesman confirmed roadside blast on a HUMVEE vehicle of Afghan forces but provided no information about casualties.

He said that Afghan forces launched a clear operation in the area where the incident happened.

A day earlier, at least 35 civlians were killed and 27 others wounded when a bomb hit a bus on Heart-Kandahar highway in Farah province.
