14 killed, 146 wounded in Kabul bombing

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 14 people were killed and 146 others, including 92 civilians wounded as a result of a massive car bombing in Kabul on Wednesday, an official said.

Nasrat Rahimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), said an explosives-packed vehicle was detonated in the 6th police district centre at around 9:30am.

According to Rahimi, at least 146 injured, including 92 civilians have been shifted to Kabul hospitals.

Wahidullah Mayar, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, said around 146 injured had been evacuated to hospitals so far.

Another security official, wishing anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 18 people were killed and 146 others wounded, including children and women, in the massive bombing.

He said the head of the 6th police district was injured and several military vehicles were damaged. A number of people were wounded by glass shards.

Hafizullah, a resident of Chahar Dehi area, told Pajhwok the attack also caused huge financial and losses. He said many children and women sustained injuries inside their homes.

He urged the government to take military facilities out of residential areas.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the huge bombing targeting the military personnel.
