KABUL (Pajhwok): US Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad has met foreign ministers of India and Indonesia on the Afghan peace process.
Three weeks back, President Donald Trump called off peace talks with the Taliban in Qatar and thus Khalilzad’s activities also came to a halt.
On Monday, Khalilzad met Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
It was the first meeting between the top US diplomat and Khan after the talks in Qatar collapsed, soon after both sides hinted at achieving considerable progress.
A statement from the External Affairs Ministry in New Delhi said Subrahmanyam Jaishankar met Khalilzad and other US officials and exchanged views on the latest situation in Afghanistan.
On the other hand, Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Retno Marudi also called on Khalilzad.
