AIBAK (Pajhwok): Construction work on a school building has been launched in Aibak, the provincial capital of northern Samangan province, an official said on Tuesday.
Education Director Abdul Matin Sarwari told the building’s inauguration event that the project would be completed at a cost of 9.3 million afghanis in four months.
He said the structure would have 12 teaching rooms, administrative rooms and a laboratory.
Currently, 1,300 students are studying in the school housed in sub-standard building, he added.
Governor Abdul Latif Ibrahimi at the inauguration ceremony said that the contractor should use quality materials in construction of the school building.
In Samangan, currently 119,000 students, including boys and girls, are studying in 300 schools.
