Quoting the president, Seddiqi said the number of Afghan diplomats was much higher and they should be reduced and quality of the affairs improved in the foreign ministry.

The president had also ordered the foreign minister to develop and implement laws and regulations needed in the ministry.

“The president’s view is that the foreign minister should be more active with regard to the country’s foreign policy and have an economy-centric policy”, Seddiqi said.

MoFA is directed to provide reports about the country’s foreign missions’ buildings’ situation in order to repaired if needed, he added.

Without giving details, he said, “Some challenges exist in the ministry which need urgent action to be dealt with.”

To a question why the president focused only on MoFA about reforms, he said, “We have been working on reforms for the past five years, we started serious work for reforms in the Ministry of Education last week, this process goes in all areas.”
