Mohib underlines merit-based police recruitment

KABUL (Pajhwok): National Security Advisor (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib has urged the Ministry of Interior to pay serious attention to the appointment of policemen and focus on the creation of systems.

Kabir Haqmal, spokesman for National Security Council (NSC), told Pajhwok Afghan News NSA Mohib issued the call on Wednesday when he visited the MoI.

He said the NSA went round different sections of the ministry and met top officials, including the minister.

Haqmal quoted Mohib as calling police the main force maintaining security and order. Positive policing directly impacted national security.

Mohib asked the MoI leadership to pay serious heed to the recruitment of police the personnel and enhance its focus on the establishment of strong systems.

Individuals come and go but systems remain, according to the advisor, who commended the police force for combating crimes and defending their homeland.

Minister Massoud Andarabi thanked Mohib and said improved coordination was a big MoI achievement. He added they were working on merit-based recruitment and creation of efficient systems.
