The assurance from Mohib to the Iranian ambassador comes after dramatic escalation of tension between Washington and Tehran over the killing of top Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani in a US strike on Baghdad’s international airport on Friday.
The Pentagon said US President Donald Trump ordered Soleimani’s “killing”, after a pro-Iran mob this week laid siege to the US embassy. Following Soleimani’s death, Trump tweeted an image of the US flag without any further explanation.
NSA Mohib who met with Iranian ambassador to Kabul Bahador Aminian thanked Iran for long hosting Afghan refugees and providing them living facilities.
He said the government of Afghanistan would not allow the country’s soil to be used against any other country.
The Iranian ambassador said his country was convinced of Afghanistan’s goodwill and for that Tehran was thankful to Kabul.
