7 security forces, 10 Taliban killed in Khanabad clash

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Seven security forces and 10 Taliban militants have been killed in a clash in Khanabad district of northern Kunduz province, an official said on Thursday.

Police Chief Maj. Gen. Abdul Rashid Bashir told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash broke out in Godam area late Wednesday night after the militants stormed security check-posts.

In the ensuing clash, said seven security personnel and 10 Taliban gunmen were killed.

The Taliban also confirmed the Khanabad clash and their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said three commanders Hasibullah, Ziaul Haq and Nisar Ahmad were among 16 security forces killed in the battle.

He said their fighters suffered no causalities in the clash.
