KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Mine and Patrolmen (MoMP) on Tuesday announced awarding small-scale mining licenses to 10 local companies and referring several more to the High Economic Council for approval.
Acting Mining Minister Enayatullah Momand distributed the licenses of mining construction materials on small scale to the companies from Herat, Ghor, Daikundi and Balkh provinces, a statement from the MoMP said.
Addressing the gathering, Momand said: “Since the bidding process for mining contracts is based on the new mining law, the private sector is paying close attention to its obligations to the Ministry of Mines in order to comply with environmental and social standards”.
He added lately all mining contracts had been referred to the HEC which would be approved soon.
