6 killed, 13 wounded in Kabul suicide bombing

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least six people including civilians were killed and 13 others wounded as a result of a suicide attack in Kabul on Tuesday, an official said.

Nasrat Rahimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, told Pajhwok Afghan News the bombing happened in front of the Marshal Fahim Military University.

He added the blast took place as a suicide bomber detonated the explosives attached to his body. Two civilians and three security personnel were killed and 13 others wounded.

The MoI spokesman said more details would be shared with the media when they become available.

But the Ministry of Defence said four security forces and two civilian were killed and six others wounded. One of the injured is a civilian and the rest are security personnel.

Mohammad Rahim, a resident of the area, said the explosion was very powerful and it might have harmed nearby buildings and people.

Najibulla, another resident whose son and daughter were injured inside their home, regretted that ordinary people were frequently harmed in such attacks.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing.

Meanwhile, President Ashraf Ghani condemned the suicide attack, saying his government had prioritised an end to violence against the nation, renunciation of conflict and a ceasefire.

In a statement from the Presidential Palace, Ghani said the government had an unwavering commitment to achieving peace with dignity.

The Ministry of Defence in a statement said that one civilian and four Aghan National Army soldiers were martyred in Tuesday morning blast in Kabul. One more civilian and five soldiers were wounded.

The Ministry of Defense expressed condolences to the families of those killed and wounded in this terrorist attack. “We pray for the souls of the martyred and wish speedy recovery for the wounded.”

Terrorist attacks inside cities and among the people reveal that terrorists only intend to kill and terrorize the Afghan people.

The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces will not be deterred by such cowardly terrorist attacks.
