Afghani currency value increased in RiV week

KABUL (Pajhwok): The value of Afghani currency has increased against the US dollar by 2.2 percent during the Reduction in Violence (RiV) period started on Saturday.

The RiV week between the Taliban, US and Afghan government started on February 22 after over a year of negotiations between the Taliban and US.

A deal is expected to be signed between the US and the Taliban at the end of the ongoing seven-day RiV period in Qatar on February 29.

Haji Mir Hussian Sadaqat, a moneychanger at the Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada, told Pajhwok Afghan News that one US dollar was accounted for 75.30afs compared to 77afs two days ago of RiV week.

He said that the increase in the Afghani currency value was due to reduction in violence and an imminent peace deal between the US and the Taliban.

The country’s political situation impacts the currency value because people are hopeful for improvement in the country’s situation, he said.

Sadaqat said that the country’s economic situation would be improved and Afghani currency value increased if peace and stability returns to Afghanistan.
