KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani and US Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad have discussed efforts for initiating intra-Afghan negotiations.
Khalilzad and Ghani, who met at the Presidential Palace on Friday evening, conferred on finalizing the government’s negotiating team for talks with Taliban.
Earlier, Khalilzad met CEO Dr. Abdullah, former president Hamid Karzai and a number of other political figures.
Meanwhile, the Taliban said they were ready for intra-Afghan negotiations on March 10 if the peace deal with the US was implemented.
Suhail Shaheen, spokesman for the militant movement’s political office, tweeted they would enter into talks with Kabul if Taliban prisoners were released.
