These returning soldiers were part of the 400 “Red Arrow” soldiers that were sent to Afghanistan in July 2017, the Wisconsin Army National Guard said in a statement.
Currently at Fort Hood in Texas, the soldiers are completing post-mobilisation requirements. They are likely to return home to Wisconsin in the coming days, according to the statement.
The remaining 250 troops who are still in Afghanistan are expected to return in accordance with the mobilisation’s original timeline.
As part of a larger drawdown of troops in Afghanistan announced earlier this year, the returning soldiers landed at Fort Hood this month.
