PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in an interview on Monday all parties were hopeful about lasting peace in Afghanistan — and in the region at large.
“Pakistan has played a key role in the Afghan peace process and we are continuing to work to achieve our goal. The US acknowledges our role,” he told a Pakistani newspaper.
The Nation quoted him as saying the US-Taliban peace agreement was a rare opportunity to make joint efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Pakistan sincerely desired peace in the region, the foreign minister insisted, saying: “We have been strong advocates for dialogue in Afghanistan.”
