JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Six suspected coronavirus cases out of total seven in the central jail of eastern Nangarhar province proved positive for coronavirus on Sunday as Governor Shah Mahmood Miakhel ordered concerned authorities for full preparations to deal with the deadly virus.
During a meeting with officials of central jail, Miakhel said that a special unit for the rehabilitation of infected prisoners had been opened. Twelve more suspected prisoners had been shifted to separate places and being monitored while the condition of infected inmates was table.
Miakhel said that he had ordered the Prisoners Release Commission to discharge their responsibilities urgently and transparently so that prisoners who are not healthy could be freed under the Special Presidential Decree.
Earlier, officials in the Kabul’s Pul-i-Charkhi prison said that 40 inmates tested positive or coronavirus.
Total 305 coronavirus cases had been registered in the eastern part of the country out of them 162 are in Nangarhar, 92 in Laghman, 49 in Kunara and two in Nuristan province.
In Nangarhar four people had recovered while 12 others died from coronavirus.
