Wolesi Jirga urges govt to introduce ministers-designate

KABUL on Wednesday demanded the government refer ministers-designate for a trust vote to the lower house.

The lower house today summoned Acting Defense Minister Asadullah Khalid, Acting Interior Minister Masoud Andarabi, Acting NDS Director Ahmad Zia Seraj but the State Ministry for Parliamentary Affairs through a notification to the Wolesi Jirga’s administrative panel wrote that these officials could not attend the session of the house due to their other engagements.

Abdul Zahir Tamim, a lawmaker from Ghor province, termed the current security situation of the country as dangerous and said three security check-posts just 15 kilometers from the provincial capital felt to the enemy in three days, in which around 50 security personnel were killed and injured.

Gul Ahmad Nawroz, a lawmaker from Nimroz province, said the security situation in the country was worrying while security institutions lacked the capacity and competent people to run affairs.

Mohammadullah Batash, a lawmaker from Kunduz province, said the government should introduce Cabinet members as soon as possible and refer them to the house for a trust vote.

First Deputy Speaker Mohammad Katawazai said government officials did not appear in the house and convey their messages to the administrative board.

 It is worth mentioning that currently 17 ministries are run by acting ministers.
