KABUL conducting 422 attacks in 32 provinces.

The insurgents inflicted casualties on 841 Afghan security and defence personnel during the week, said a statement from NSC.

In the Taliban assaults, 291 security forces were killed and 550 others wounded. At least 148 civilians were also killed and wounded in last week’s violence by the militants.

The NSC said last week was the deadliest in the past 19 years for the security forces, despite Taliban’s pledge to reduce violence and work for peace.

The rebels were still shedding the blood of fellow Afghans, despite goodwill gestures from the government, the council lamented.

According to the NSC statement, the militant movement has failed to honour its commitment and had demonstrated no will for peace.

It added the continued killing of Afghans further the fuelled hostility towards the Taliban in every village and every house,

The persisting Taliban-linked violence had mad the process of national reconciliation and mutual tolerance more complicated, the statement concluded.
