16 Taliban killed in Laghman operation

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): More than a dozen Taliban militants have been killed and half a dozen more wounded during a joint security forces operation in eastern Laghman province, an official said Monday.

Laghman intelligence chief Brig. Gen. Ghulam Haidar Rahmanzoi told a press conference that the intelligence operatives, National Policemen, Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and Public police order jointly conducted the clearing operation in Sargando Baba area on the outskirts of Jalalabad-Kabul highway late on Sunday night.

He said at least 16 Taliban militants were killed and six others wounded in the nighttime attack.

 On the other hand, Laghman police Chief Col. Manzoor Stanekzai assured people to have full cooperation with security forces for the security of Laghman province.

The Taliban have not yet commented on this regard.
