Afghanistan’s coronavirus tally surges to 33,190

KABUL (Pajhwok): As many as 239 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected in different part of the country over the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s overall tally to 33,190.

A statement from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said hundreds of individuals underwent testing during the period and 239 of them were diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Kabul recorded 90 new cases while Ghazni seeing 51 more infections. At least 23 fresh cases were registered in Herat, 16 in Bamyan, nine in Baghlan, eight in Balkh, seven in Kandahar and six in Zabul

Five were recorded each in Kunduz and Logar, four in Kunar, three each in Parwan, Laghman and Panjsher, two each in Samangan and Helmand and one each in Nangarhar and Takhar.

At least 34 people lost their lives to the pandemic and 737 others recovered in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths thus reached 898. At least 201,031 [ep[le have recovered from the disease so far.
