District police chief among 3 killed in Ghazni blast

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Local officials on Wednesday said that police chief for Deh Yak district of southern Ghazni province was killed along with two police guards in a roadside bombing.

Wahidullah Jumazada, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok afghan News a clash erupted between security forces and Taliban this morning in the district.

He said the police chief Habibullah was on his way to the clash site when his vehicle hit by the roadside bomb.

He said Habibullah was killed along with two police guards. Taliban militants also suffered casualties during the firefight, Jumazada said.

Samiullah, a resident of the area, said the clash erupted early in the morning and lasted till 8am.

“The firefight was serious and police casualties might be higher,” he added.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the group fighters attacked the district police headquarters and shot dead Habibullah along with four guards.
