Afghanistan’s coronavirus cases surge to 35,727

KABUL (Pajhwok): As many as 112 new positive Covid-19 cases have been detected in different parts of the country over the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s overall tally to 35,727.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said in a statement from 377 individuals underwent tests during the period and 112 of them were diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Kabul recorded 43 new cases while Herat saw 32 more infections. A least  20 fresh cases were registered in Ghor, seven in Ghazni, five in Laghman, three in Badghis and one each in Nangarhar and Kunar.

Four people lost their lives to the pandemic while 168 others recovered from it in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths thus reached 1,190. As many as 23,907 people have recovered from the disease so far.

The ministry called on the people to follow medical instructions and guidelines to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
