KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani and US Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad have exchanged views on an extension of the Eid ceasefire.
At a meeting late Wednesday, the two sides discussed a reduction in violence and the start of direct talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
Ghani’s office said in a statement the completion of the prisoner swap also came up for discussion at the meeting.
High Council for National Reconciliation Chairman Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and ex-president Hamid Karzai were also present at meeting.
Separately, the visiting US diplomat and Abdullah conferred on the completion of the prisoner swap, reduction in violence and intra-Afghan dialogue.
