KABUL and children, have been killed and 13 others wounded in flash floods in central Kapisa and Panjsher provinces, officials said on Thursday.
Kapisa police spokesman Abdul Shariq Shurish told Pajhwok Afghan News the floods were triggered by heavy rains in Koh Band district late on Wednesday night.
He said women and children were among 10 people killed in the floods, which wounded 10 and left as many others missing. The floods also destroyed thousands of acres of farmland, hundreds of gardens and dozens of houses in Kohistan and Nijrab districts.
Public Health Director Dr. Mohammad Shoaib Danish confirmed receiving nine bodies and 12 injured people from the affected areas of the province.
Mansoor Anaee, the Panjsher governor’s spokesman, said five people were killed and three others injured as a result of flash floods in Hesa-e-Doem and Anaba districts on Wednesday night.
