SHARAN (Pajhwok): For the first time ever, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) would install a radar system in southeastern Paktika province to control and monitor the country’s airspace.
Mohammad Khaees Aminzai, a technical representative of the CAA, told a meeting in Sharan, the provincial capital, the site had been identified and a preliminary survey had completed.
He said: “Three places have been identified in the PRT area of Sharan. A preliminary survey has also been carried out and the rest of the work will be completed soon. The airspace of neighboring provinces will also be controlled.”
He said it was one of the 12 radars in the country which had been contracted to a German company.
Deputy Governor Sher Badshah Urgoni welcomed the project and vowed full cooperation on the installation of the radar system.
