KABUL (Pajhwok): Forty-nine new coronavirus cases have surfaced in Afghanistan in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health reported on Wednesday.
In a statement, the ministry said 213 individuals underwent tests and 49 of them were diagnosed with the virus during the period.
At least 17 cases were reported in Herat, 10 in Daikundi, nine in Balkh, six in Kabul, five in Badakhshan and one each in Paktia and Maidan Wardak.
The total number of cases in Afghanistan stands at 39,145 and total fatalities from the pandemic are 1,445. Recoveries are recorded at 32,576.
One individual died from the disease during the past 24 hours and the number of deaths thus rose to 1,446. So far, 32,610 people have recovered from the pandemic.
