Air cadets among 22 killed in Ukraine plane crash

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 22 people, mostly air cadets, have been killed in a military plane crash in Ukraine, the BBC reported on Saturday.

The Antonov-26 aircraft, carrying cadets from the Kharkiv Air Force University, came down near the eastern city of Kharkiv as it was landing. The crash occurred late on Friday.

In Kiev, Emergency Ministry officials said 27 people were on board the ill-fated plane, which was on a training flight.

Two individuals were in critical condition and a search operation was continuing into the night for the three missing people.

AFP quoted Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko as saying: “It’s a shock. At the moment, it’s impossible to establish the cause.”
