Covid-19 cases in Afghanistan top 40,000

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said on Thursday 32 more individuals had tested positive for Covid-19 in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, the ministry said 248 individuals underwent tests and 32 of them were diagnosed with the virus, , taking the nation’s tally to 40,026.

At least 16 new cases were recorded in Balkh, eight in Takhar, four each in Kabul and Baghlan provinces, the ministry said.

Around 93 people recovered from the pandemic during the period, pushing up the number of recoveries to 33,447, the MoPH statement added.

No one died in the last 24 hours from the disease that has so far killed 1,481 individuals in Afghanistan.
