Covid-19 deaths near 1,500 in Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said on Tuesday 82 more individuals tested positive for Covid-19 in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, the ministry said 398 individuals underwent tests and 82 of them were diagnosed with the virus, taking the nation’s tally to 40,369.

At least 32 new cases were recorded in Herat, 114 in Takhar, seven in Balkh, six each in Kabul and Daikundi, four each in Kunar and Kunduz, three in Logar, two each in Kandahar and Laghman and one each in Parwan and Panjshir.

About 30 people recovered from the pandemic during the period, pushing up the number of recoveries to 33,790, the statement added.

Two people lost their lives to the disease in the past 24 hours, taking the number of deaths to 1,499, the statement added.
