KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday reviewed the draft budget for fiscal year 1400 and talked in this regard with a number of ministries and independent organizations, his office said.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said President Ghani during separate meetings talked to a number of ministries and independent organizations about the draft budget.
Officials from the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Urban Development and Lands, the Ministry of Defense, Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat, Bakhtar Afghan Airlines and the Ministry of Finance submitted their plans and reports to the President on allocation of the national budget for fiscal year 1400.
President Ghani urged the Ministry of Public Works to build its capacity for better implementation of construction projects and said the ministry should return to its core responsibility of implementing major national projects and should give priority to Afghanistan ring road, Ghor road and Jalalabad road.
President Ghani directed the Public Works Ministry to ensure transparency in implementation of large national projects.
He further said the entire focus of the Ministry of Urban Development and Land should be on housing and implementation of the five major cities development plan and evaluation of its departments in provinces to improve quality and increase impact of budget utilization.
He stressed Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat should provide required electricity to security and defense forces facilities and create a joint plan with interior and defense ministries.
He said government institutions should invest in the Bakhtar Afghan Airlines.
President Ghani also tasked the Ministry of Finance to take measures regarding collecting income tax across the country and prevent corruption in customs departments.
