KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan government’s State Ministry for Peace Affairs on Thursday reported “some progress” in the peace talks with the Taliban in Doha amid attempts to break the stalemate.

Peace Ministry’s Spokesperson NajiaAnwari tweeted the Afghan delegation in the Qatari capital Doha was trying to achieve progress in the intra-Afghan talks with contradictory issues being discussed.

She said some development had happened in the peace talks while talks were underway to agree on the code of conduct. Government and the opposition teams would issue a joint declaration officially, she said.

The development comes a day after Afghan government spokesperson SediqSediqi categorically rejected any progress in Doha talks.

Talking to reporters Sediqi said President Ashraf Ghani did not show opposition to progress in peace talks and added the government supported peace in the country.
