MoPH reports 85 new Covid-19 cases, 6 deaths

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 85 new positive COVID-19 cases and six deaths from the infection have been recorded across the country since yesterday, the Ministry of Public Health said on Thursday.

The ministry said 1,412 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 85 people, pushing the overall tally to 52,513.

Of the fresh cases, 18 in Herat, 14 in Nangarhar, 12 in Nimroz, seven in Kandahar, six in Kabul, five in Paktia, five in Kapisa, four in Helmand, three in Kunar and Faryab each, two in Khost, Paktika and Sar-i-Pul each, and one in Balkh and Maidan Wardak provinces each.

At least 126 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 41,006.

The ministry said six people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total deaths reached 2,201.

The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
