9 more people die from Covid-19 in Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Wednesday said 125 new positive Covid-19 cases were registered in the last 24 hours in the country.

The ministry in a statement said 2,385 people underwent tests since Saturday and the virus was detected in 125 people, pushing the overall tally to 54,406.

It said 40 cases were detected in Faryab, 34 in Herat, 10 in Kabul, 8 in Nangarhar, 7 in Laghman , 6 in Nimroz , 5 in Kandahar, 4 in Sari-pul, 3 in MiadanWardak, 2 each in Paktia , Badakhshan, one each in Parwan, Bamyan, Zabul and Uruzgan provinces.

At least 205 individuals recovered, taking the recoveries to 46,759 and none people lost their lives to the virus during the period, with the total death toll reaching 2,363.

The coronavirus first emerged in China more than a year ago and then spread to at least all countries around the world, including Afghanistan, but a new form of the virus has recently appeared in the United States and Britain.
