Film director runs auto dent repair shop in Paktia

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): A director of four films, actor and story writer has long been running a car dent repair shop due to joblessness in southeastern Paktia province.

Mohammad Amin Hairan, a resident of Sayed Karam district, says he is a student of arts and beyond that he is also an instructor in some other fields.

However, he is now busy running a dent repair shop in Gardez city, the provincial capital.

He repairs crashed or collapsed vehicles with his unique skills in the repair market in Gardez city.

“Everything is possible if one works hard that can turn you a star”, he said.

A graduate of engineering faculty, Hairan has been busy in the dent repair shop since last 18 years due to lack of job in his own field.

He said he was also a taekwondo athlete and trainer and he had trained many people in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during migration.

He recalled he had been enthusiastic about producing films and had written scenes about some subjects and finally made a film ‘Youth of the Homeland’ in 2004.

He said his second film was Bazaar and third ‘Snake in the Sleeve’ which he said was highly acclaimed.

“I wrote all these films and I was also the main character, I made the first two films in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said.

The fourth film he directed was displayed in Gardiz city in 2013 and many people supported it. The film illustrated current situation in the country.

Hairan said his last film was Taqdir (Destiny) and depicted the current situation of the country but it could not be played due to security reasons.

His films focus more on peace, security, education, law enforcement, prevention of corruption and elimination of Baad Marriage culture. Hairan said he made the films and dramas with his personal costs.

“I have prepared many scenarios and artistic films, but I left them due to security problems, shortage of resources, economic problems and some other issues,” he said.

Hairan said the Ministry of Culture and other relevant organs had failed to make films for promotion of the Afghan culture or to prevent damage to the culture of the country.

No significant work has been done about the film industry, TV channels should stop broadcasting foreign serials which he said should be replaced with domestic productions.

He added that he was ready to continue work in the industry if he was provided with required resources.

Paktia information and culture director, Salahuddin Salis said that they were ready to support film actors and provide them security if they ask for that.

Besides Hairan, some other filmmakers and actors in other provinces of the country also complain about similar issues and they have been working in other fields.
