100 meetings conducted on peace: Naderi

KABUL (Pajhwok): State Minister for Peace Affairs Syed Saadat Mansour Naderi on Sunday rejected rumors that the venue of peace talks would be changed from Doha to another place.

Addressing reporters here, he said had the Doha Peace Agreement been beneficial, fighting in the country would have been stopped.

“Fighting and violence would have been declined had the Doha agreement been beneficial,” he said.

He added peace talks and fighting could not go simultaneously. “We need to sit and accept one another and resolve our differences through dialogue.”

He said the first round of talks had some achievements and stressed that this process should be supported.

He said in last fiscal year, 818.9 million afs budget was approved for the State Ministry for Peace including 509.5 million afs general budget. He said they spent 62 percent of the general budget.

The state minister said last year a consultative group of women under the Women Voice in 12 provinces officially started work and this process was being expanded to other provinces as well.

According to Naderi, the ministry held 100 meetings with 32 different segments of society to ensure coordination and improve understanding on peace.
