6 border soldiers suffer casualties in Herat roadside bombing

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): At least two border soldiers were killed and four others wounded in a roadside bomb explosion in western Herat province on Monday, officials said.

Jailani Farhad, Herat governor’s spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place on Herat-Islam Qala highway today afternoon.

The explosives were placed in a motorcycle parked on the roadside and it was exploded when a ranger pickup of the border soldiers were passing from the area, he added.

He said that two soldiers were killed and four other wounded in the blast. Efforts are on for the perpetrators of the incident, Farhad added.

No groups have so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

A day earlier, a powerful explosion targeted the 13th police station of Herat city that left two police injured but caused huge financial losses to the local residents.
