GARDEZ (Pajhwok): The Gardez-Dand-i-Patan transit road was built about 12 years ago, but it destroyed due to poor quality work and now efforts are underway to reconstruct it.
JahanyarAkbarzai, head of Paktia Public Works and Roads Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the ministry wanted to reconstruct the road.
Akbarzai said special survey teams had arrived from the ministry and were conducting surveys in the area.
He emphasized the importance of the road and said its reconstruction would not only solve traffic problem of tens of thousands of people, but also increase the flow of trade.
“About 40 percent of its survey is completed and the rest is being surveyed fast,” he added.
Governor Mohammad HalimFidai also stressed that in addition to some other important projects, the construction of this road was also planned and serious work would be done on it.
Abdul Malik Zazai, chairman of the Provincial Council, said Paktia needed more attention from the central government and said some projects related to the Ministry of Public Works had been incomplete in the province since years.
