KABUL (Pajhwok): Wolesi Jirga Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani on Wednesday called the upcoming Turkey Conference as a historic opportunity to end the war in Afghanistan, saying the lower house would prepare and present to the conference its own peace strategy.
The crucial Turkey Conference is expected to take place next month. The huddle is considered a decisive one to accelerate peace efforts and come to some sort of conclusion.
Afghan government representatives, political leaders, representatives of regional countries, US and UN representatives may attend the meeting.
Speaker Rahmani termed the meeting as vital for Afghan peace process and added government delegation should present a unified agenda in the meeting.
Wolesi Jirga member Helmand Helaman demanded the formation of a unified front and strategy on the behalf of the government and political leaders for the upcoming Turkey Conference.
Shah Gul Rezae, a lawmaker from Ghazni province, said individuals participating in the meeting should present an inclusive and grand peace strategy.
This comes after Presidential Advisor Mohammad Akram Khapalwak met with Hizb-e-Islami Afghanistan Leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Jamiat-e-Islami Afghanistan leaders Salahuddin Rabani, Atta Mohammad Noor, JamiatIslami splinter group head to prepare a unified and single strategy for the Turkey Conference.
Earlier, Presidential Palace said that it will present a peace strategy in Turkey Conference through which a nation-wide ceasefire and early election would be announced.
