KABUL (Pajhwok): Former Head of the Setara-e-Khalej Company Abdullah Jan has been sentenced to 18 months in jail and over 34.7 million afghani fine over embezzlement charges, a statement from the Attorney General Office (AGO) said on Sunday.

“Abdullah Jan is sentenced to one and half years in jail by the primary court of Justice Centre fighting Serious Crimes in open trial on the treachery charges,” the statement reads.

According to the AGO Abdullah Jan’s company committed treachery in the contract inked with the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriate to distributed Saudi aid among displaced persons. The matter landed at the AGO and after investigation Abdullah Jan’s case was referred to the judiciary.

The court found Jan guilty and punished him for 18 months jail term and 34.7 million afghani fine.
