Taliban, govt Eid truce make people happy

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some residents of capital Kabul have welcomed the Taliban and government announcements of ceasefire during three days of Eid while some termed it a conspiracy on the Taliban side.

The Taliban on Sunday night in a statement announced ceasefire during three days of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Mohammad Ishaq, a resident of capital Kabul, he was happy by the Taliban decision to observe ceasefire during three days of Eid and hoped that this convert into a permanent truce.

He asked conflicting parties to stop killing one another and accept lawful and logical demands of one another.

Hakeemullah, another resident of Kabul, said he was happy about ceasefire announcement and they will be able to stay peaceful for some days.

He said with the announcement of ceasefire now they will be able to travel to their villages easily.

Meanwhile, some residents termed the Taliban’s ceasefire a conspiracy and said the Taliban strive to use this period for their interest under the name of ceasefire.

Tahir, the resident of Kabul, said the Taliban targeted schools, universities and other soft target during this period.

Mohammad Ashraf, another resident of Kabul, said he was not happy about three day ceasefire because he doubted if this will happen or not in reality.

He said common people rendered massive sacrifices in this war thus government should take all measures into account to protect people.
