KABUL (Pajhwok): Five coronavirus patients have died due to the shortage of oxygen in central Parwan province, an official said on Saturday.

Abdul Hameed Alami Zhakfur, head of the coronavirus rehabilitation centre, told Pajhwok Afghan News that five patients died due to the shortage of oxygen in the province.

He said 124 suspected coronavirus patients delivered to the hospital on Saturday out of which 105 were tested positive for Covid-19.

He said they faced oxygen shortage from the past eight days. He said currently 30 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized in the facility while that health condition of nine were in danger and oxygen could save their lives.

“No doubt we are facing the shortage of oxygen, not we but the entire Afghanistan is facing oxygen shortage,” he said.

In Parwan, 1,477 positive coronavirus cases registered, out of which 31 people died last year, while 21 have recently died.
