At least 4 killed, 6 wounded in Logar mortar strike

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Four people have been killed and six others wounded in mortal strike in central Logar province, an official said on Thursday.

A source told Pajhwok Afghan News a clash erupted between the security forces and the Taliban in the Surkhab area of Mohammad Agha district late on Wednesday night.

Four people were killed and six others wounded when mortar shell fired during the firefight struck a civilian home in the area, he said.

The casualties wounded included women and children of the same family, he said, adding it remained unclear as to who had fired the mortar shell.

A resident of the locality, Jan Mohammad, also confirmed the overnight strike and casualties. He had no idea who had fired the mortar shell.

With government officials reluctant to speak about the incident, the Taliban have also said nothing so far in this regard.
